- Designer: Cyril Bourreau. Cyril designed this typeface and made it available for us to download. The zip file includes the font file and a document with instructions on how to get the most out of this font. However, it doesn’t say if this is a personal use only font. So, you make the judgement. It seems to me that this font is safe for commercial purposes as well, but don’t worry, I also added a few great alternatives that you can purchase and are similar to the original Back to The future font, that way you can stay on the safe side (if you need a commercial license).

Neosonic is an interesting alternative if you’re looking for something more unique. It has that speeding italic look that evokes movement and that is why I think this will be a nice replacement for the Back to The Future display font.
A fun, retro looking font Real Young is a good choice as well, mostly because of the cartoonish or better yet, gaming look that it has. With the right design applied, it will give out that flash speeding effect that we really need if we wan’t to emulate the Back to The Future Typeface.
Rasegard display font is also a nice choice. It’s definitely more stable with somewhat less racing effect but I like how compact it looks. It’s great for a vintage sci-fi themed projects.
Lastly, I found the Rocking Pistons font and I immediately loved it. Two things I like here, one is the fact that it doesn’t only comes with all-caps, it also includes small-caps as well. This gives you more options and more options are always welcome. Second thing that I like is the italic style with sharp blocky feel to it. I think this could work in both sci-fi and vintage western themed projects. In my book that’s a win right there.
